Social Issues and Expectations of Civic Engagement Fair

Questions I should bring up:

What can we do about the homeless issue in St. Pete and Florida?

• I see this issue everyday in St. Petersburg

Water Environment and how we can save it.

• We live by a marina as well an ocean.

How can we make St. Petersburg/Tampa a better city?

• I'm going to live here, might as well make the most out of it

I really hope I can learn a lot out of this Fair. I really want to help change the community and the State. This venue will help spark the change we need for the future. We {the students} can help change the area in which we live. Whether it is the environment, clubs, part-time jobs or career, they all have their importance.

I really hope I can find my true calling. I have high hopes for myself.

Syllabus Response

Some of the course goals for English Composition 1101 are oral/Digital Component and adding to the conversation. It is very important to strengthen your communication with others because; everybody is important inside of a team. I really hope when I am inside of this class, I can be able to strengthen my vocabulary and be able to look for mistakes in my paper more easily. By the end of the year, we {the students} will be able to successfully understand everything from Rhetorical Knowledge (focusing on audience, purpose, context, medium, etc) to Electronic environments (Researching, Drafting, etc). A few questions I have of them are “what the difference between them? “What are the ways you can learn the difference?” and “How can I use them efficiently and effectively?” The main assignments that must be done are Participation Portfolio, Blogs and Blogging Groups, Wiki, Reflections and Self-Assessments, Drafts and Conferences, and Homework. The main assignment that interested me is the blogs and blogging groups. My least favorite one would be Homework. The one I feel the best prepared for is Drafts and Conferences. In order to be fully prepared in all of the assignments, I will have to improve my reading skills. This will make it better for me to find mistakes and be able to successfully improve paper to the best they can be. The policy on late work is stated as you will not be accepting late work. On the attendance policy is after each absence you lose ten points to your grade till the five absences. When the fifth absence hits, you fail the course. When it comes to rough drafts, the teacher will not review drafts of assignments before it has been peer reviewed. The teachers’ office hours are from 11am-1pm. You should come to the office hours because you can get better grades because you stay on top of your work. Since you’re getting more involved, you receive better grades. You don’t need a preparation to go to the office, just bring your questions or concerns. My first visit to the teachers’ office hours will be soon because of a current book issue I am having. The reasonability for my teacher is usually the same for all teachers; sure the students are able to understand the material. Also, make sure they are really for the real world. At the same time is my {the student} reasonability to ask questions and not disturb other from their education. I really hope to learn everything I need to know about college writing. I think I can give a lot to the English class. I can write a lot of short stories and I like to talk/write about debating topics. I really hope the others in my class can give me feedback and via versa on how you can make topics better as well as our papers. To be honest, high school and college is a big difference for me. Paper have to be turned in on time or else your will not get credit for them. You also need to be in class or else you can fail the semester. I think having the ability to be given the opportunity to help change the community around me. I think the abilities I can bring to the class can be I am the good listener and talker. I can push myself by getting my work done on time. I believe my writing process is I like to be able to as details I can try to be. I try to find the problem and give as many solutions. A few questions I have are “What fun activities should I expect?” “What level of writing should I be at?” “What level of reading should I be at?”

Aug 30, 2010. Daily Writing

The prints I like to read are the headline news. This is because I can learn about local and the big news of today. Also, I like to read are web blogs because you can other people opinion on certain topics. These topics can range from tech of today to the latest issue of America. The reason why text online is different than newspaper text is because of many reasons. The main issue is the Internet you can post whatever you want vs. the newspaper (even with freedom of the press) that still has rules. I can also read it differently by using the shortcut keys to find information faster than reading the entire newspaper article. I can read College textbooks in many different ways. Most textbooks usually come with illustrations to comprehend the article of which I am reading. The easiest way to read these textbooks is to use the index and look for the best page for the problem at hand.
For non-fiction books, the best way to read these pages are probably read the whole page. This is because many books have so many details that it would be bad to leave important facts out.
The best way to remember what you wrote is think aloud what you read. Maybe even write an outline. There are many way you can use to remember what you just read.

Issues In My City

Homelessness in St. Pete and who can help in the area? (We live in St. Pete)
Is global warming real and who can look into it as a company? (Because I need a future)
What can we do as a community to reduce waste in our landfill? (to help save the planet)
Who can stop animal abuse in Florida? (Because who does not love animals)

I really want how to be a successful leader in the community. I also want to be able to understand and solve issue in this community as well as Florida, etc. Maybe one day I can be in the position to really change the community.

Getting On Course To you Success Ch.1 PRP

This Chapter is important to me because this chapter explains the fundamental of starting success in life. It explains the importance of the book and the important of being successful. The chapter explains that many college students feel that they do not need this course, but in reality they may need all the help they can get. There are three princoples of deep and last learning, they are:

1. Prior Learning
2. Quality of Processing
3. Quantity of Processing

These Principles help me and the reader understand that these are great ways to be a more active successful person. Most human brains are driven off of a "neural network". These networks help us remember or to learn objectives in life. For example, the reason it takes a person a long time to learn a new device is lack of experience but if someone been working with that device is because of prior knowledge.

One of the most important learning system is "The Core Learning System"--"CORE" stands for

1. Collect
2.Organize
3. Rehearse
4. Evaluate

Do you like to write?

Do I like to write? I would have to say yes. What do I like to write? Well, Probably short shorties...Mostly Horror Stories. They are my favorite. You can write about pretty much anything. Anything from aliens to zombies taking over the world. I probably really gotten into writing horror stories in my 7th grade year. That was when my (at the time) Assistant Principle was our teacher for a period and wanted us to write a stories in regards to halloween. I wrote about my middle school I was at and about people dieing from a monster in the ouskirts of the school grounds. A few years later, I made the story longer to keep the story fresh for me. I still would like to go back and make it a lot longer, maybe even a novel at one point. Currently I am in College English 1101. I really hope this course will increase my ability to improve this past writing.
