Final Reflection on Rhetoric Analysis

The purpose of my rhetoric analysis essay is to take an item and break it down into many different parts of the overall item. It’s to teach us rhetoric analysis in general. My audience for my item (3-D television) is for anyone that interactive with that item. I had to do research on this item in order to fully understand it. I went on different websites in order to get a full understanding. I used websites like best buy and 3rd party websites. When I found more info on 3D television, I had to go back and edit it to make it a longer. Since I was the only one in my "group" to work on this essay, all the reasonability came down to myself to make sure I get all the work done. I had to also make sure to cite all my sources to create credibility to my item. I listed the pros and cons over the new tech and told how the device works. I listed why society wants 3D television anyways. I put picture of the unique brand I was doing. I like to use peer reviews to make sure my assignment stays on track. Once I get my corrections, I go back and fix them. I like to use a word processor in make sure everything goes smoothly.

Reflection on Rhetorical Analysis Essay

Rhetorical Knowledge

• My purpose for writing this assignment is to write about the connection between teachers' pay vs. teachers performance. My primary audience will be parents. I will be writing it in an essay format. I choose the teachers union side, so I will be speaking in an argument tone.

CRWT

• In my paper, I research the bill and try to understand the draft.
• I used sites like Best Buy or other information areas.
Composing Processes
• I write the out with a pro/con format. I wanted to make sure the reader could understand points of the bill. I feel I did a good job organizing it. My teammate gave me advice when it came to make it better with his peer review.

Knowledge of Conventions

• When it came to editing, I wanted to keep the track changes on because I wanted to see my edits before I saved. It’s important to edit because, you item can always change in the course of you writing about it. I hope to get more into detail of my item in the upcoming drafts. When it came to sources, I used footnotes to help make my argument more creditable.

Writing Technologies

• I used my Word Processor, to type my pages as well as the internet for information. Email was a good way to send information to me when I didn't have a flash drive.

Explain your rubric choices for your assignment;....explain what changes you still need to make.

Explain your rubric choices for your assignment; outline the changes you have made to your Community Writing Assignment; and explain what changes you still need to make.

I have decided to keep the same rubrics on which the professor have given because, my paper is an essay format. So most/if not all questions currently on the rubric could relate to my topic. I wanted to make sure I gave good argument point in my paper. I still need to express more of what side I am on because that would make it a good “Writing to Convince” paper. Currently, I believe it is a great “Writing to Inform” paper.

Overview and note to peers/instructors

Revised Overview of Community Writing Assignment
What is working well in this assignment?
Where do you need feedback in this assignment? What do you want your peers to read for? What are you most concerned about in this assignment?

I updated the negative of the Florida Senate Bill SB-736. I started to put in my opinion of the bill in my paper. I sided with the teachers Union. I gave my reasons in my paper. There is a lot of information on this issues because it is a current issue plus, a lot of newspapers have publish this article state-wide. I would like to get feedback on the idea if i am going in the right direction. I tend to put a lot of information in my work that may/may not be 100 percent related to my topic.

4/4/11 Community Writing Changes

First off, the reason why my paper is the way it is, is because, my initial draft was in that first paragraph. When it came time to make the changes, I put a page break in the page to show where my initial paragraph was and where the new draft was. This is something beneficial for me to look back and see the changes that i am making. Also, when it comes to the final draft, i can take the final draft and put in on a new page.

Community Observation Project

The observation assignment I want to do for my community is try to understand teachers' pay to teacher performance. I want to see if the better the teachers' performance, the better the pay, and vice versa. My audience will be Pinellas county teachers. Teachers can be in any public or private (if applicable), and any grade level (Pre-start to College). I want to help inform the community about the importance of teachers pay. I also want to convince the reader (of which side I take) that my side is important for students’ success. I want to write for all Pinellas county parents since their children are one of the top priory of their lives. If there is a connection between the two, can there be a balance? How much lee way can you give before you start having problems? These are just a couple of questions I want to answer.

Daily Writing 3/7/11

Choose one of the quotes below from Re-Imagining Change. What does it mean to you? How does it relate to what you've read in this book? How does it relate to the assignments you can create this semester? (Writing for Community/Writing in the Disciplines/Showcase Presentation)

"Just as our bodies are made of blood and flesh, our identities are made of narratives." (17)

"In order to make systemic social changes, change agents much understand the histories and institutions that underlie contemporary social systems, as well as how these histories and institutions shape culture." (19)

"Identifying and challenging underlying assumptions is probably the most important element to changing a story." (39)

Overview of Chapters 1 and 2 with footnote presentations.

What is a Narrative Power Analysis?

What is a meme?

Questions?

Ideas for Assignments?

My Answers:

"Identifying and challenging underlying assumptions is probably the most important element to changing a story." (39)

In order to help change a story, you need to know what you are trying to change. I have to find out what assumptions are currently active in this community and challenge them. I have to challenge them to see if they are correct. I can use this in this semester when we did the NOFO. We have to find out what are really issues in this community and find ways to fix them.

Narrative Power Analysis

A framework to show the interaction between narrative and the relation on power

Meme--A unit used in Culture.

I do not have any questions at this time

We could get more hands on with this assignment, maybe a field trip? Maybe a community involvement?

Daily Writing 2/24/11

What is the status of your NOFO? What do you need to do to have it complete by 5:00 pm on Feb 24? What is the status of your midterm reflection? What do you need to do to have it complete by next Monday (Feb 28)? How can we spend this class time working on these projects? What do you need to do on your own time or with your group? Write a plan of action outlining what you need to do for your NOFO, Midterm Reflection, and Midterm Portfolio.

Currently, are nofo is just about done. However, I do not know that 100 percent because, i was not at the last meeting due to time constraints. On Friday, Feb 24, we need to have the NOFO complete in its FINAL draft send to the committee no LATER than 5 pm. my midterm is moving along in its entirety. We should have the portfolio done by Monday, Feb 28. We can use this time today by going on the computer and being able to type the midterm up. When it comes to nofos, we can get together, look at the comments and see how we can make them better.

1) I have to find out what still needs to be done for the nofos,
2) Midterm: I need to expand and answers the questions in regards to it
3) I need to post the data on the Portfolio before the deadline.

R.A of an Item

Television

The item that I choose is what society has called a “Television” set. It comes from the mixed Latin and Greek origin, meaning "far sight”. This box has been used since the 1920's to transmit pictures and audio across great distances. Society has used TV's to spread the news and entertainment to our homes. Many televisions are just regular box-shaped metal based equipment, till signal gets transmitted to them. Most television has parts inside of them, including, tubes, glass, metals, etc. Most television used to be big and bulky, but over many years have become the size of the palm of your hand. They use to be plain but now are bright, flat screen, you have choices of LED, LCD, plasma, and maybe more .Television started off in black and white and transformed into colored in the mid 1900's. When regular program is not schedule to be on, networks (owners of TV “channels”) use commercials to extend air time.
Most people pay money to view television channels in order to watch their favorite shows, movies, news, sports, etc. however, before the early 2000's, many people could watch TV for free using analog wavelength signals. On the downside, society has started to look down a pond television commercials as a bad thing. This is become (in my opinion); people think that there is more commercial time than “normal” programming time. Because of this, many companies have place television programming (commercial-reduced/free) on other forms on media sources.
Many parents think that Television is a waste of time for their children because of all the violence and sex on television that they could be using their time more wisely. In my opinion, television can be neither good nor bad (among any technology really), it is how society uses it.

Blog response to revision of NOFO

We did a lot of changes to our NOFO. We had to look up DATA and make sure everything flow correctly.

Blog response to peers' blog responses

A lot of our peer responses were good ones. They wanted us to fix our title. They also wanted us to take some our paragraph. in the future, ill try to give more feedback on the content of the NOFO. Think about what they are tryin to to say and see if they are saying it correctly.

Blog response to in-class work

When it comes to our NOFO, we have to a lot. We have to fix the title, problem statement, expand out research paragraph, etc. Our title needs to be written to explain what we are doing. We have some information that has old Data in it that has to be deleted. At the moment, Aida and myself are currently working on researching other successful local non profit that were able to help domestic abuse victims. John and Rebekah are currently looking into our title and mission statement. Estefi will help with more research for our NOFO. We defiantly have our work cut out for us. Once will tear down the whole to near whole nofo and rebuild it, it should look great!

Civil Engagement Fair Review

My review on the Civil engagement fair. I went to the engagement fair near the end of the day so some organizations may have been gone. That is where I signed up for more information on some clubs. Some clubs I got more information on were the out-club club, LASA, mentor programs, etc. I am really hoping that it becomes bigger next year. They should work the times better for student times that the organizations are out there. some people have classes along time on Monday and can not always make it out there.
